Setting Sun

To you my love, my spirit is much like the sun
My glow will bathe your skin in warm kisses
My warmth will ignite your heart like adrenaline
The color of sweet honey, soft on the eyes and lips

But at times the sun burns too bright
Warmth turns to unbearable heat
Burning bodies sweat out insecurities
While anger lingers only to set a fire

I’ll wash away the fire and ashes with tears
I’ll bathe our wounds in holy water and repent
But the scars remain and my love never forgets
Bandaged, but broken the sun has finally set
