Oh Boy

Memories of a boy so small in stature

His heart unaware of its impending fracture

With a zest for life, his stories too tall

Charming, but misunderstood by all

Akin to the boy, memories of a girl

A heart rarer than a pink conch pearl

With a love for the boy’s zany energy

Unbeknownst to her, later her jeopardy

Boy and girl form a magnetic bond

An innocent friendship, the spawn

Little tears and lots of smiles and laughter

They continue, as if happily ever after

Seconds to minutes to several years

Boy and girl are forced to tears

A separation results in distance

But letters convey their persistence

Time passes and the letters cease

Boy and girl’s hearts aren’t at peace

They move forward with resistance

Seeking answers, our great existence

At last their two hearts reunite

Content, future seeming bright

They promise each other forever

Their only lasting endeavor

But boy and girl’s hearts are damaged

Both carrying life’s heavy baggage

The weight causes their foundation to crack

One unwilling to ever turn back

Girl can’t call him a lover or a friend

Time will only tell if her heart will mend

But boy can’t call her a stranger either

This is why love is the ultimate deceiver

  1. Oh Boy
What a time for your poem to arrive
Broke up 3 year relationship last night, am barely alive.
Tottering on crumbling into a heap of trash
My love and my life’s yearning has crashed.
    Great Post Christina

    1. Breakups are a traumatic experience if you truly loved someone. How awful to have to mourn someone that’s still alive. You will get through it! I am… : )
