Interlude

While choirs sing songs of praise and rejoice

Their voices invoke a peaceful quiet mind

Yet as the music is temporarily silenced

Each internal voice re-enters a noisy mind

As the sun sets in the evening revealing velvet skies

The darkness coos us to rest and relaxation

Until the sun rises shining light on our imperfections

Each ray of light creating only shadows of strength

As sand slips through the middle of an hourglass

The gritty texture leaves us feeling scathed

Only to be turned around to reset the clock

Each grain carving out microscopic re-entry wounds
